I think it’s safe to say SUMMER is here! We have celebrated the 4th of July for the first time in over 30 years without the Dilly’s Fireworks, but we did fill that void with some other fun filled activities that are getting good reviews!
Thank you to the Bogema’s for organizing the Kid’s Parade! Both young and old enjoyed participating! From the firetruck leading the way to the ice cream trucks bringing up the end, fun was had by all!
We all enjoyed the boats all lit up cruising around the lake! There was some great ingenuity!
We appreciate all those that put the luminaries out on their docks and shorelines, the candles were not as bright as we hoped but did show unity of us all around the lake. If you still have the luminary boxes let’s try again next year but with bigger candles!
Poker Run
That’s right, the annual Poker Run and 50/50 raffle is happening on Saturday July 26th.
Run Starts at 12:00 noon and ends at 3:00, visit challenge sites via boats, jet ski, kayak, etc.,
to play games and win your poker chips. All 5 stops will have balloons attached to their docks.
5 Challenge Sites:
Roy & Anne Shaw – 11441 Lally St (Southwest end of Lake) Dave & Nancy Kistler – 4283 Causeway Dr.
(East side of the island)
Andy Curtis & Arika Williams – 3985 Bedaki Ave (East side of lake at the south end of Bedaki) Dave
Covey & Sandy Sharar LeBlanc – 4132 Murray View Dr (Lower Murray View – north end) Mike Kramer &
Jeanne Herold – 4104 Murray View Dr (Lower Murray View – north end)
After you visit all the challenge sites, come on over to Pat & Cindy Brenk’s (4014 Causeway Dr –
West side of the island) starting around 2:30.
At the Brenk’s you will hand in your chips and take your best shot at drawing the winning hand. If
you don’t like your hand, you can do a redraw of up to 5 cards for $10.00
Payouts for poker hands:
- Winning hand
- 2nd best hand
- Worst hand
In addition to playing your poker hand we have a 50/50 raffle and other raffle prizes. Last year’s
winner won over $400 and don’t forget to check out the ML Facebook page for other raffle prizes.
Bring your cash as we do not accept credit cards.
This is our biggest fund raiser for the Murray Lake Association and this year we will be giving 10%
of the proceeds to Murray Lake Elementary.
And now for the fine print:
- 2025 MLA paid members play for free, Murray Lake family & friends will pay a $30 entry fee
per poker hand - You must be 18 to play poker, and anyone can buy raffle tickets
- Please do not bring furry friends or glass bottles to host sites or Brenk’s Beach
- If you want to sit at Brenk’s Beach, please bring chairs
Flotilla of FUN!
August 23rd is the date! Mark your calendars! We are working on some of the details but we do know there will be live music from Denny Middleton and Friend to help entertain us all as we raft off together, and get to know our lake neighbors. Watch for more details!
Kistler’s Murray Lake Golf Outing
This year there will be a twist…We are going to join
forces…to….compete against nearby Big Crooked Lake!!
**** Date: Sat, Sept 20, 9am shotgun start *****
**** Where: The Links at Bowen Lake, Gown, MI **** We are aiming for 8 teams of 4 for each lake.
All skill levels
WELCOME! If we get more teams, we’ll need to make sure we are balanced across the lakes.

Octoberfest
We again have arranged to have Rudy Tegthoff bring his accordion and
singing talents to entertain us for some Octoberfest Fun! Those that joined us last year can
attest to his fun filled entertainment.
